Mahé island, with an international airport, is a key transport hub, home to capital Victoria, the mountain rainforests of Morne Seychellois National Park and white-sand beaches including Beau Vallon and Anse Takamaka.

Inner Islands

The Inner Islands are centred on the main islands of Mahe, Paslin and La Digue and include North Island and Silhouette Island.

Seasons and Weather:

Lying 4 degrees to 11 degrees of the Equator in the western Indian Ocean, Seychelles has a tropical climate, warm and humid with strong maritime influences. The temperature is consistently 24-32 degrees celsius.

There is no distinct dry season but there is some humidity throughout the year

Many of the granitic inner islands have dramatic terrain with Mahe hills rising to 900m. Rainfall increases with altitude but ultimately the winds will dictate the weather and seasons.

November: Pre North-West Monsoon – Winds start to change becoming lighter and warmer and the rainy season begins.

December to January: Seychelles becomes extremely wet which is beneficial for the vegetation, the winds become lighter and the sun is at its warmest. This is also cyclone season with the most remote southern island are within the cyclone belt.
